Distribution

Both the binary and source distributions of Geomview include a doc subdirectory. It contains the full manual in several formats: browsable HTML, printable PDF, and Emacs Info files which can be included in your site's Emacs Info tree. It also includes the OOGL File Formats Tutorial, instructions on interfacing with Mathematica and Maple, the example programs from the manual, man pages for Geomview, GCL format, and OOGL formats, and man pages for most of the external modules and auxilliary executables included in the distribution.

Runtime

There are two forms of built-in help accessible from a running version of Geomview. Both print out information in the terminal window from which Geomview was started.
  • Hotkey sequences:
Hit the '?' key when the mouse is in any of the Geomview windows to see a brief list of all possible hotkey shortcuts.

  • Geomview Command Lanuage (GCL):
In the Command panel (hotkey sequence "PC"), type
    • (? command) for a one line usage summary

    • (?? command) for command details

The command argument to "?" and "??" can include wildcard characters.
The special case of (? *) results in a brief list of all possible GCL commands.
