A couple of other notes:
WriteOOGL's MergeVertices option is amazingly slow & probably not too useful.
You can make normalization default to off all subsequently loaded objects:
(normalization World off)
e.g.
geomview -c '(normalization World off)'
I'm adapting the mathogl package to allow writing directly to geomview.
