It seems that this can happen if the CPU environment variable is not set; try
	setenv CPU iris4
or run "source config" in the top-level geomview directory.

(We tried to handle that case and print a warning; this actually works
if you run "make" from the top-level directory, but when run from other
directories you see only this bizarre error message.)
