Yep, it was a bug. It's fixed in geomview 1.2.2, the current (Oct 4) release.
You might just as well use "geometry" rather than "new-geometry" to avoid
the bug.
They're different only in that "(new-geometry fred ...)" creates a uniquely
named new object ("fred<2>", "fred<3>", etc.) if "fred" exists, while
"(geometry fred ...)" simply replaces "fred".
