NeXT geomview isn't yet out.  There's a good chance we'll have a beta release
within the next month or so -- if interested in that, please say so.

I haven't heard of anyone doing the kind of slicing you suggest;
Daeron Meyer's "ginsu" program (pub/geomview/ginsu.tar.Z)
will split an object into two pieces, given a plane.  It's an interactive
program, not directly usable as a building block, but the code might be
useful if you're trying to write such a program.
