There's a newer version, which I think fixes the problem you're seeing.
Try picking up priv/slevy/940316.geomview-x11-src.tar.Z.  It contains a
makefiles/mk.rs6000, so you can just "setenv CPU rs6000", enter the appropriate
settings into makefiles/mk.site.default, and "make".  Let us know how it goes...
