nextstep 3.2 pa-risc version of geomview

hello all,

i have recently started playing with geomview because it runs on so many
platforms. i have been experimenting with it under sunos, solaris, and
nextstep. aside from some display quirks with the beta X11 version, i am
having problems only with a single platform: the nextstep 3.2 for hppa-risc
version.

first of all, the software does not appear to install perfectly correctly.
the path list in the 'open file' dialog is not correct. none of the external
modules show up in the modules listing. this is not the case when i install
the same package for nextstep 3.2 on motorola hardware.

but these are minor problems. here is a reproducible (for me) problem:
start up geomview and load the teacup.bez object. set the shading to
smooth. then set the shading to flat. at this point, the window server
on the hp dies, the crash terminal window comes up momentarily, and usually
the login panel appears. sometimes though, the machine needs to be rebooted.
this happens not only with the fat-binary distribution but also when i
rebuild the software from the source. again, i do not have this problem with
motorola hardware (which uses the identical source). i have not yet tried it
with intel hardware.

am i the only one with this problem? or is this yet another demonstration of
the non-robustness of nextstep 3.2 pa-risc?
