ucdtooff knows about 1- and 2-dimensional objects (lines and surfaces), but
doesn't currently handle solid hexahedra or tetrahedra, though it could
conceivably be changed. It might either be made to convert them to surfaces
or ignore them, according to their meaning; is it clear to you which makes
most sense?

Alternatively, is there any prospect that the data you receive could be
converted to surfaces?
