I just downloaded source for geomview. It is compressed
with .Z, so it is really large and takes a long time to
pipe.
After I uncompressed it and compressed again with 
gzip -9, it is much smaller-  2.84Mb.
You can save a lot of bandwidth with other 
compression- I beleive 100%
of UNIX systems have gunzip.
