Hi Mark - I just found out what the problem was....... The supervisor
had copied in a new /etc/hosts file onto the machine, which had permissions
rw-------. I think that when the DGL daemon attempts to verify
the requesting host (In this case itself), it must use /etc/hosts instead
of the DNS. (?)

Well anyway - changing /etc/hosts to have rw-r--r-- fixed the problem,
and I'm happy. Sorry to waste your time.....
