No. Mathematica is a mathematics program produced by Wolfram
which can communicate with Geomview.

Your problem is that you're not linking in the right libraries.
This should be set up properly in $GEOM/makefiles/mk.solaris.
There should be a line that reads:

SYSLIBS = -L/usr/lib -L/usr/X11R5/lib -lnsl -lsocket -lgen -ldl
