[ REQ 5622]: bug in outputing of normals

When I try to output in rib format a scene containing normals,
geomview writes a bunch of garbage (NaN etc.)  Please start geomview
and load the following commands:

(load "/u/levy/bbc/tiny.gv")
(backcolor c0 0 0 0)
(space hyperbolic)
(hmodel c0 virtual)
(normalization g1 none)
(rib-display tiff movie)
(load "/u/levy/bbc/setcamera.gcl")
(rib-snapshot c0)

Then turn normals on and run

(rib-snapshot c0)

again; then compare the files movie0000.rib and movie0001.rib.  
The first can be rendered, but not the second.
