You can determine the color of a SPHERE (or of other objects which lack
colors) using "appearance" prefixes, as in

appearance { material { diffuse 1 1 0 } }
SPHERE
Radius
X Y Z


Here the three numbers following "diffuse" are red, green, blue values
respectively, in the range 0 to 1.  See the geomview manual, or "man 5 oogl",
for other appearance fields.
