Hello, 

Just typing geomview at prompt produced:

X-Geomview currently supports only 24, 16, 8, and 1 bit
        deep displays.  No supported display depth was found.
        Please mail the output of "xdpyinfo" to
        software@geom.umn.edu

Our display is an HP 8-bit grayscale so I don't know why it didn't find
it, since it doesn't say anywhere color is required.
