Looks like the X11 version has the same problem.  The OpenGL
version works as expected.  However the X11 driver always shows
per-face normals.  In each case I'm using binaries from the
Center.  The SGI one has a compile timestamp of "Thu Dec 12
03:22:01 CST 1996" and the Solaris one has a date of "Thu Dec 12
05:34:57 CST 1996".
