Hmm. The "-cckr" flag hasn't been necessary for a while now: we made
the code ANSI-compliant a while ago. Do you have an old version of the
code? The latest one was put in the anonymous ftp directory May 27.

If you do have an old version, a way to set the "-cckr" flag is by
typing "setenv SGI_CC -cckr" before "make", but a much better solution
is to ftp the latest version and try compiling that.

I haven't seen any compilation attempts that actually crash a
machine. It definitely compiles for us under 4.0.4 and 4.0.2. Does
the latest version fail?
