Bill,
   I don't understand the "Couldn't load Shell" error message at all,
but I just tried the above command on sofya and got a different error
message --- one about the FORMS library (file "libforms.a") not being
present.  You need that in order to do the above example; it comes
with the Geomview source distribution, but not the binary
distribution, which is what you have.  I just put a copy of libforms.a
in our ftp directory; you can grap it either as file
"/u/ftp/priv/mbp/libforms.a" if you login as wmg, or as file
"priv/mbp/libforms.a" if you use anonymous ftp.
   After putting a copy of libforms.a in your
/usr/local/geomview-1.4/Geomview/lib/sgi, try the above again and
let me know what happens.
