appearance problem with LISTs

When I display a LIST of the form below, all the LIST elements take  
on the appearance attributes of the last element.  This problem  
appears to affect all versions of Geomview.  A (non-sensitive)  
example file is temporarily in /u/burchard/9ins.gv.

    unit { appearance { material { diffuse 0 0 1 } } { : cylinder } }
    transforms { = TLIST ..... }
  }
