Rudolph,
   Firstly, software@geom.umn.edu is an alias on our system which
expands to a bunch of people.  Mail to it does indeed reach us.  The
problem you saw when trying "finger software@geom.umn.edu" is because
the finger program only looks at actual accounts, not mail aliases.
Same for "register" and "geomview-users".
   Now, in answer to your question, you need to get the source code to
Geomview in order to have the OOGL libraries.  It's in the file
pub/software/geomview/geomview-src.tar.Z in our ftp directory (on
geom.umn.edu).  It should compile on any of the machines you
mentioned.
