Could you describe anything about how the machine crashed?  Did it panic,
or just hang so that commands weren't accepted, or what?  More details
might help.  I don't think we've seen geomview crash a Sun before.

As for not finding files, there may have been some trouble with being
superuser and installing onto an NFS-mounted file system; typically NFS
refuses to accept superuser access, and pretends you're the special user
"nobody".  It might be worth checking whether the geomview files actually
were extracted; try "ls -l" in the directory <whatever>/Geomview/bin/sun4,
and see whether gvx and assorted other programs are there.
