The current distribution of Geomview does not include support for
OpenGL.  We have done some development in this direction and have
an working experimental OpenGL MG driver.  This may make it to
the next release (no scheduled date).  Inquires like yours help
push it up the TODO list.

I don't know whether DEC Alphas come with Iris GL libraries.  If
they do, then you can try modifying makefiles/mk.alpha in the
source distribution to build a GL version.  You'll have to modify
the LIBS lines to add the GL libraries.  You'll also have to add
the following two lines:

GVTYPE = gl
MGTYPE = -DMGX11
