[ REQ 5483]: bug on Geomview 1.5 on alpha and rs6000

Hi guys,

We are using Geomview 1.5 on alpfa OSF1 and IBM rs6000 for doing
simulations of 2 dimensional random surfaces. These are physics models
of red blood cell membranes, liquid crystal membranes and the (somehow
misleadingly called) "theory of everything", the theory of fundamental
strings. The package is really
great and we owe you big thanks for it gave us more physical intuition
and helped us a great deal debugging our codes.

Since we now want to impress the world with our wonderful results, we
try to use the PS Snapshot module to make colored postscript pictures of the
surfaces.

We use the COFF oogl format in order to create our surface. We color the
nodes red, blue or yelow depending on the number of links that
emanate from the node. The coloring is important because it shows the
dynamics of the defects and that contains important physical
information.

The bug is that although the Camera shows our configurations having the nodes
corectly colored, the PS Snapshot module colors the triangles instead
producing a picture that is hard to read.

I created a tar gzipped file with 3 files that show the bug. You
can get it form the web from (114kBytes):

http://www.phys.ufl.edu/~konstant/homepage/geomview-bug.tar.gz

It contains 3 files:

oogl-object: The COFF format we are using

snapshot-PSSnaphot.ps: The postscript figure

snapshot.gif: A gif picture of the Camera for the same config.

All 3 of them refer to the same configuration.

Does the bug exist on the sgi version of geomview as well? If not, I
might beg some people here to let me have Geomview installed on their
machines as well.

Thanks a lot,

Konstantinos Anagnostopoulos
