Yes, sorry, we did receive your note.  It's hard to know what to say;
we have no RS/6000 at hand, and on those where we have tried it,
the file browser has behaved normally.

One thing you might try would be to fetch the Geomview source and compile
it on your own computer; the source is available by FTP from geom.umn.edu as
  pub/software/geomview/geomview-src.tar.gz
