Please try this & let us know how it goes. I sent this to someone else
reporting a similar problem, but didn't hear anything back, pro nor con.

Geomview is linked with what seem to be current libc and libg++/libstdc++
libraries. If your system doesn't have them, you can get them from
e.g. sunsite.unc.edu or one of the Linux mirror sites. On sunsite,
the following should do:

   http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/GCC/release.libc-5.3.9
   http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/GCC/libc-5.3.9.bin.tar.gz

   http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/GCC/release.libg++-2.7.1.4
   http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/GCC/libg++-2.7.1.4.bin.tar.gz

(I'd expect that later versions would work, too, e.g. libc-5.4.17 and
libg++-2.7.2.1, though not sure.)

Check the release notes for installation instructions and compatibility
with your Linux kernel version. It should be enough if you add these
libraries to your system, as opposed to replacing the ones you've got now.
