As for libstdc++.so.27.1.4 (as opposed to libg++.so.27.1.4), you do
really need both.  The libstdc++.so.27.1.4 should be included in the
tar-package I'd mentioned earlier, at:
     http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/GCC/libg++-2.7.1.4.bin.tar.gz
with release notes at
     http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/GCC/release.libg++-2.7.1.4


In case somehow you can't get hold of this, I've put just our libstdc++.so.27.1.4
linux library in a gzipped tar package, and put it up for FTP at
  ftp://geom.umn.edu/priv/slevy/libstdc++.so.27.1.4.tar.gz

but you should really install the whole libg++-2.7.1.4 tar package,
which includes both libraries and lots of include files, if possible.
