Well... you could ignore the software's advice, and set the CPU to "sgi" --
for most programs in the distribution, that should work for Irix 5 and 6.

But better yet, could you pick up a later release of the geomview source?
It should compile under Irix 6 without trouble (and suggests you set CPU to
"sgi" if it wasn't set, rather than the obsolete "iris4"); it fixes a number
of other bugs as well.  You can get it from
