thanks for your info. i am test-running S so there are things
i don't know about S on top of getting used to geomview.
What I want is to let S have the control and pass-on a series
of objects to geomview. Say, there is an object and i want
to slice it up sequentially, thereby resulting in a sequence
of "ribbons." Sometimes i want to go inside the layers of ribbons
to get the inside view of the object; sometimes, i want to color
contour density functions at a point of click. In going through
all these motions, i would like to be able to save such a 
sequence.

geomview doc was not properly installed in some of the IRIS here
but it is corrected now. so I have access to oolg.5.
Let me play with it. when i have more specific technical questions,
