The "geomview" shell script (typically /usr/local/bin/geomview) invokes a
particular executable, normally "gvx", from some directory.  Look for the
setting of GEOMVIEW_GVX in that script.  It's probably still running the
originally installed version.

You can override this temporarily by setting an environment variable, e.g.

   setenv GEOMVIEW_GVX ~Geomview/src/bin/geomview/x11/gvx
   geomview ...
This will run the new version of geomview for just that session (i.e. from
just that shell window).

For a permanent setting, you could copy .../bin/geomview/x11/gvx to the place
where the geomview script expects it.  Or, run "make install";
that will install a new "geomview" script and "gvx" binary somewhere,
probably in either BINDIR (/usr/local/bin) or ~Geomview/bin/sun4.
